GORAN MARINKOVIĆ

(1962 | Washington) graduated from the Faculty of Music Arts in Belgrade at the department of wind instruments (bassoon) in the class of professor Marjan Bolfan, as well as the department of composition and orchestration in the class of Professor Vlastimir Trajković. He finished his post-graduate studies at the department of wind instruments (bassoon) in the class of Professor Marko Isa ski.
During his studies he was the winner of numerous first prizes at music students’ competitions, both as a soloist and as a member of different chamber ensembles (wind trio and wind quintet). As a soloist he won third award at the 20th Yugoslav Competition of Young Artists (there was no first prize) in Zagreb. In January 1986 he was nominated for the October Prize of City of Belgrade for his solo performance with the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra. Another nomination for the same prize followed in 1994 for his graduation thesis at the department of composition: Thousand Years White orchestra music.
He is the winner of the award of "Mihajlo Vukodragović" foundation for the String Quartet that was played the first time at the Gathering of the Contemporary Music Composers in Opatija. He has perfected his skills working at the Mediterranean Youth Orchestra in Aix-En-Provance, France, working with: Maurice Bourgue, Michel Tabachnik, and Arturo Tamayo. We went to the summer course for chamber music working with the eminent French clarinetist Jean-Noel-Crocq in Fontenay - Le - Conte, France. During the school year 1995/96 he has worked as a professor of chamber music in secondary music school "Stevan Mokranjac" in Belgrade. Goran Marinković was a permanent member of the Chamber Ensemble "Belgrade Baroque Quartet" which has had a long reputation and a significant number of concerts. |
Since 1994 he has been a permanent member of the Belgrade Wind Quintet "Les Bacchanalles". In 1995 the Ministry of Culture of Serbia founded the "New Music Ensemble", and Goran Marinković has been a permanent member since it was founded. Beside his work in permanent chamber ensembles he also collaborates with other ensembles.
Between 1987 and 2004 he was the permanent member of the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra and between 1992 and 2004 he worked as first solo bassoon of this orchestra. He was the regular associate of the State Chamber Orchestra of the Republic of Cyprus working under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture and Education of the Republic of Cyprus. In the summer of 1999 at the invitation of the Ministry of Culture and Education of the Republic of Cyprus, Goran Marinković held a course in chamber music (working with wind ensembles), and a preparatory course for students to work at the "Cyprus Youth Orchestra". Goran Marinković’s compositions were performed at the Gatherings of Contemporary Composers in Opatija and Belgrade, concerts within BEMUS ("Thousand Years White" – performed by the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra and the Youth Philharmonic), and many other noted concerts.
His "Solo Songs", "String Quartet" and "Cakona" for String Orchestra have been recorded and archived as permanent sound recordings for the Belgrade Radio Television and broadcasted in numerous programs by Serbian Radio Television, Art Channel and others. His works have been performed in alternative venues in Belgrade promoting contemporary authors, and similar venues abroad (Ljubljana and Kopar, Slovenia, September 2008). Goran Marinković plays first solo bassoon of the "Camerata Serbica" Orchestra. He works as an Associate Professor at the department of chamber music at the Faculty of Music Arts Belgrade.
