KATARINA AZANJAC

Serbia

was born in Belgrade,on 27/1/1958. She was cradled in the sounds of the flute from the very birth by her flute-playing father and long-time Professor at the Faculty of Music Arts in Belgrade Miodrag Azanjac, which necessarily resulted in her vocation as a flute-player and pedagogue. During her school days she won numerous first prizes and special awards in all regional and country competitions, and as a soloist and chamber musician she toured the world, played concerts with the orchestras and made sound recordings for Radio Belgrade.

For 18 years she has been a member of the chamber ensemble "Flute Choir" under the management of Professor Azanjac and with them made over two hundred concerts all over the country, as well as 60 hours of sound recordings, a large number of which were made for RTS and Radio Belgrade. She has recorded two CDs with the same ensemble, one of which is a double CD, published by PGP. She has performed in all the great music halls of Belgrade, from Sava Centar, Kolarac (the opening of BEMUS), National Museum to the Fresco Gallery, Cvijeta Zuzarić Pavillion and many others.

Her working life is marked by the constant desire to develop a culture whose basis is education. She says: "The symbol of education is nobility, love, width, a sense of esthetic values, benevolence, self-respect, respect for one’s kindred and all the people." Her work is inextricably interwoven with her life and with the development of young musical talents, which is evident from her results. Together with her students she has won over one hundred first prizes (State Competitions, International Competition "Petar Konjović", FMŠS...) a large number of which are Laureates in the discipline – the flute, and some in chamber music.
